Do you have any Valentine's Day Traditions? A few years back I found this awesome chocolate heart cookie recipe and it has become an annual tradition to bake these for my loved ones. Try the recipe for yourself and spread some love.
Chocolate Valentines Cookies (Pioneer Woman)
Ingredients:
2 and 1/4 cups All-purpose flour
1 tsp. Baking Powder
1/4 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Ground Cinnamon
1/4 c. Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
1 c. firmly packed Brown Sugar
1 Large egg
1 and 1/2 tsp. Vanilla Extract
2 (1 cup) Sticks Butter softened
Directions:
1.) Combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and cocoa powder in a bowl with a whisk.
2.) In a large bowl, cream butter, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla until well combined. Add the flour mixture in 2-3 batched to the creamed mixture. Make sure it is mixed well.
3.) Place dough in a large plastic storage bag and flatten slightly with your hand. Seal bag and refrigerate for 2 hours
To make the Cookies:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Remove dough from bag and place on a floured surface and let sit for 5-10 minutes. Toll out the dough to 1/4 in. thickness and cut with heart cookie cutters.
Place on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet and bake for 12 minutes. Cool completely and decorate!
